In June 2025, students from Years 10 and 11 at St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic High School embarked on a truly unforgettable pilgrimage to Rome, the heart of the Catholic Church. This sacred journey was not only a cultural and historical exploration, but a deeply spiritual experience that brought our faith to life in powerful and personal ways.
Our pilgrimage began on Monday 23rd June, with a visit to the Catacombs of St Callixtus, one of the earliest Christian burial sites. Walking through these ancient tunnels, we were reminded of the courage and devotion of the early Christians who lived and died for their faith.
Over the following days, we explored some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Roman Forum, places where history and faith intertwine. On Tuesday, we were incredibly blessed to see Pope Leo during our visit, a moment of joy and awe that will stay with us forever.
