St Augustine’s is a welcoming community and we believe that our school is a holy place because Christ is at the heart of all we do. I hope to get to know you all in the coming year. As school Chaplain my main focus is to offer encouragement, support, friendship and a listening ear, for both students and staff.
Charity work is another key feature of Chaplaincy, where pupils realise the value of helping others. Students support and raise funds for St. Helens Foodbank, CAFOD, Woodlands Hospice and The Shoebox Appeal. Students are given the opportunity to run fundraising events for charities close to their hearts, putting the ownership of their good deed into their hands.
Students will also have the opportunity to visit the local country park for a day retreat, in order to learn about the wide variety of plant life, birds and animals that live there. We will also reflect on our responsibility as St Augustine’s faith community, to protect the valley environment for ourselves and future generations.
Our Catholic, Christian Ethos is not an easy thing to describe but it can be felt and seen throughout the school in our day-to-day interactions with each other. Experiences of happiness, sadness, joy, loss, and achievement are drawn together, given words, and reflected upon in the light of the Gospel.
Hello everyone, my name is Elizabeth Percy and I am the Head Girl here at St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Academy.
It does not seem so very long ago that I started my high school journey here – excited, yet nervous of what was to come. I can honestly say that any nerves quickly disappeared as I was welcomed into this school family.
Over the last four years, in this warm, supportive environment, I have grown not only academically, but as a person. The staff at St Augustine’s have guided, supported, challenged and encouraged me to aim high and be the very best I can be.
I am proud to be part of this tightly knit community and I am sure you will feel the same.
Welcome everyone who is joining St Augustine’s Catholic Academy. I am Daniel Rowson, the Head Boy.
Secondary School is a big step up from primary school and many new challenges come with this. In secondary school you will meet new people, learn new subjects and encounter new situations. However, none of this is negative. The change in environment can also boost confidence and you will have all the tools around you to help you succeed.
If you find any of these challenges difficult to overcome, there are members of staff all around the school that you can speak to that will help you adapt to life here at St Augustine’s. Once you get comfortable, which won’t take long, everything will improve. At St Augustine’s you will progress faster than ever and you will be prepared for everything.
