Welcome to Science
“Science is made up of mistakes, but they are mistakes which it is useful to make, because they lead little by little to the truth.” Jules Verne
We provide a rich and empowering science education for all.
The study of science is an exciting and imperative component in the understanding of the world; from the development of medical treatments to deducing the implications of climate change, science contributes to all aspects of modern life. Modern Scientists are testing theories, formulating hypotheses, investigating the world’s most crucial issues, and implementing their knowledge and skills to formulate innovative solutions.
Our curriculum ensures students understand what it means to be a scientist in the modern world and provides a pathway to master the skills required. Our science mastery curriculum follows the learning threads of the ‘14 Big Ideas’ of Science; interleaving and building upon prior knowledge enabling students to learn more and remember more.
Students embark on a five-year stimulating journey of Biology, Chemistry and Physics disciplines, building a wealth of knowledge alongside investigative concepts. Our curriculum will prepare all pupils academically for further scientific study and a career in science, including knowledge of the dynamic complexities of the natural world and their place in it. Our science curriculum fosters intellectual curiosity and encourages students to form their own hypotheses; based on both the knowledge they gain and the insight they wish to gain in the future. To create future scientists; the content selected is specifically ambitious and challenging.
