Computing & Business

Key Stage 3

The Computing & Business department is studied by all students are Key Stage 3 in years 7, 8 & 9 where students have 1 lesson per week. Following the National Curriculum for Computing we guide students through the main strands of Computing across the 3 years. Throughout the time at Key Stage 3 students get a varied exposure to Digital Literacy, Information Technology and Computer Science through 6 main topic areas. Each year these areas are studied to build upon prior knowledge building towards GCSE and BTEC courses offered at Key Stage 4.

With the remodelled Key Stage 3 curriculum at St Augustine’s Business units have been added to Key Stage 3 to give students an awareness and an exposure to another potential GCSE subject that is offered at the school where no formal Key Stage 3 curriculum is offered.

Through the department’s passion and enthusiasm for the subject areas offered we aim to inspire the students to continue with the subjects at Key Stage 4 and beyond.

Key Stage 4

The extensive and stimulating schemes of work on offer across GCSE Business, GCSE Computer Science and BTEC Technical Award in Digital Information Technology ensure students are able to build upon their prior knowledge and learning gained at Key Stage 3 whilst learning new and exciting skills and knowledge to empower lifelong learning with the areas of Computing & Business. All students are encouraged to work to their best ability and whilst taking measured risks within the subject area.
