At the heart of our school community is a deep commitment to prayer and worship. Each day offers a sacred opportunity to pause, reflect, and grow in faith together.
Our daily Prayer and Liturgy programme is a vital part of our Catholic Life, helping us to connect with God, with one another, and with the wider world.
Throughout the week, we embrace a rich variety of spiritual experiences:
Monday – A time for quiet reflection and stillness
Tuesday – Prayers for student intentions, lifting up the hopes and needs of our community
Wednesday – Whole school prayer and liturgy led by our Chaplain
Thursday – Student-led reflections on topical issues
Friday – A focus on CAFOD and the global Church, reminding us of our shared mission and responsibility
In addition, each year group gathers weekly for a dedicated assembly, further deepening our sense of unity and purpose.
We warmly invite you to explore the resources and PowerPoints shared on this page, and to join us in prayer and worship, wherever you are.
Student Chaplaincy Reps strive to see Christ in others and be Christ to others.
Their responsibilities include: being a leader in Prayer and Liturgy, planning and delivering services and prayer in school, supporting charity collections and bringing their good ideas and creativity to our school.
Live Simply Award - CAFOD
CAFOD Ambassadors meet Fridays at lunchtime to learn about the needs of people in other parts of the world, fundraise for CAFOD and work towards the school’s Live Simply Award.
This year St Augustine of Canterbury has launched a Youth SVP Group (St Vincent de Paul Society) to reach out to our local community, turning concern into action.
Their motto is see – think – do: students express their concerns about what they see in the community, reflect on what would Jesus do and decide on action.
2025 Pilgrims of Hope
At St Augustine of Canterbury we are Pilgrims of Hope.
We do this by:
Living our Catholic life every day in kindness and respect for each other.
Helping our community by linking with local charities and reaching out to people in need around us.
Respecting the planet as our common home, recycling as a school and pursuing eco-friendly targets.
2025 will mark 60 years since the Second Vatican Council, or Vatican II
Father Simon Gore explains: “The logo shows a group of people travelling together, reminding young people that they’re never alone on their journey of faith and will always have support in their faith communities.
There’s also the symbol of the wave, a reminder of the potential difficulties of being a follower of Christ in the modern age. But most importantly, there’s the anchor – the anchor of hope – to show that no matter the difficulty, we can always find hope and comfort in our faith.”
As we begin the holy season of Advent .......
We enter once again into a time of waiting, prayer and joyful expectation.
“Advent is a time to prepare our hearts to receive Christ with joy and to recognise His presence already among us.” — Pope Francis
Pope Leo’s message to young people
Dear young people, “aspire to great things, to holiness, wherever you are. Do not settle for less. Then you will see the light of the Gospel grow every day, within you and around you.”
Our recent Open Evening was a huge success!
